“Shelters are emergency places that people turn to in times of natural disaster. They are places that offer the most essential relief, places that people resort to when in search of protection. Inside the shelter, the emergency landscape unfolds, with piles of mattresses and blankets, security cones and barriers, flashlights and bottles of water.” The exhibition was curated by Sebastián Irarrázaval and Hugo Mondragón. The exhibition will be open between February 15th and April 23rd.

We are happy to announce that FAR frohn&rojas has been selected as one of the winners of the 2010 Architectural League Prize for Young Architects & Designers.
As part of the Architectural League Prize exhibition, FAR frohn&rojas will present their new "global economy".

Driven by the constraints of their long-distance travel to NY, FAR will carry only hand luggage. But this hand luggage will contain their entire body of work. Within four globes, reverse-engineered ‘shadow objects’, are miniature worlds that act as portfolio. Once staged with light the rotating globes reveal FAR's work as a sequence of large-scale shadows cast on the walls of the space.

The exhibition will be open to the public beginning on the evening of June 22 and will be on view through August 6 at the Arnold and Sheila Aronson Galleries, Sheila C. Johnson Design Center, Parsons The New School for Design, 66 Fifth Avenue. The gallery is open daily from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and late Thursday evenings until 8:00 p.m. Admission is free. The exhibition will also be open on the evenings of the lectures. read less

As part of the exhibition Contemplating the Void, FAR frohn&rojas and SCDLP are exhibiting their proposal Camera Obscura at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. The exhibition starts today and will go through April 28th.

Camera Obscura proposes to contine the void of Frank Lloyd Wright´s spiral space into infinity. Movements of birds, planes, satellites and stars traversing the space are projected through the existing "lens" of the glazed center-piece of the roof onto the new projection plane on the ground registering those dynamics. The building´s spiral walk not only frames the body of the camera but at the same time allows people to view all the projected movements of the new infinite void. read less

Wall House plans are now available at www.hometta.com??In 2008 we began exploring new territory in the delivery of architecture by initiating www.mywallhouse.net. The cultural magzine “Kultur.21” broadcast by Deutsche Welle internationally presents FAR: “A house like a tent: The Wall House situated in a suburb of Santiago de Chile is the first realized project by the German architects Marc Frohn and Mario Rojas Toledo. The building completed in 2007 immediately caused a furor. The house with its translucent membrane looks like a Bedouin tent.”
