WOVEN CITY , Granada , Competition Entry (2006)
New campus for medical sciences. Woven City strategizes the campus as a complex world in itself that opens up at relevant points to connect with the city fabric to the north, the hospital and the surrounding green areas. All schools and central institutions are linked through a unifying network of paths, corridors and bridges that  connect into  key vertical cores. The proposal – as opposed to creating a series of isolated and purely discipline-oriented buildings - encourages communication, offers a variety of routes through the campus and promotes synergetic effects between the different departments. The stadium-like overall form with its elevated rims supports the necessary inward focus of the campus in order to create a critical mass of circulation, communication and visual connection necessary for the tying together of the different schools. At the same time, it creates a terraced arena-like space inside with  stimulating views in-between the faculties. On the top of the rim, strategically placed terraces offer breathtaking views of Granada , the wider landscape and the Sierra Nevada .
