Due to the cost of land providing social housing in proximity to communal and technical infrastructures instead of pushing it into the periphery is a major challenge in Santiago. Our project which is due to be completed in 2019 addresses this challenge. It occupies a very slim lot of almost a hundred meters in length which due to its extreme proportions escaped the radar of the real estate market.
The nine-storey structure houses maisonette units with exterior access balconies on every second level. Kitchens, dining and living areas open up to these balconies.
The large blank fire wall on its other side becomes a large-scale bill board addressing the multi-lane one-way road passing along the site. Its revenue supports the upkeep of the premises.
