Santiago de Chile
Competition Entry, 2020

Our design for NUMU plays an important role in rooting the museum locally, establishing the museum as a leading actor in Santiago’s cultural scene, and making it a platform that links to leading art institutions worldwide. The project is composed of three vertically layered design strategies: a connective topography that integrates city and park, raised exhibition spaces offering precise urban gestures, and an animated iconic roofscape.
Through these design approaches, our project establishes a powerful link between park and city, and relates to its surroundings both through strong visual and programmatic relationships. It provides exhibition spaces that offer a great Degree of flexibility in terms of scale, lighting, layout and connectivity. Its green veiled gable silhouette establishes it as a strong landmark marking the southern end of the Parque Bicentenario.
